Echuca Junior Pirates Representative Basketball Program
The Echuca Junior Pirates is the representative basketball program of the Echuca Moama Basketball Association, providing talented young athletes with the opportunity to compete at a higher level of basketball across country Victoria. Unlike domestic basketball competitions, the Junior Pirates program is selection-based, bringing together committed players who are ready to challenge themselves through advanced coaching, structured training, and representative competition.
Each summer, Junior Pirates teams compete in tournaments throughout regional Victoria between September and April the following year, with teams ranging from Under 12 Boys and Girls through to Under 18 Boys and Girls. Division 1 teams also compete at the Junior Country Championships, the premier event that concludes the representative season.
Selection Process
Participation in the Junior Pirates program is by selection only.
- Coaching appointments for the upcoming season occur in June each year, with positions advertised through the association website, email communications, social media, and local media outlets.
- Division 1 Team coaches are announced prior to player tryouts, while Division 2-4 Team coaches are appointed following the completion of the tryout process.
- Player tryouts are held during June/July each year and may include weekend sessions depending on stadium availability.
- Successful athletes selected into Junior Pirates teams are announced via the Echuca Moama Basketball Association website.
