Echuca Pirates Coaching Positions – Expression of Interest
Echuca Moama Basketball Association (EMBA)
The Echuca Moama Basketball Association (EMBA) invites Expressions of Interest from qualified and passionate individuals for Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions across all age groups in the Echuca Junior Pirates Representative Program for the 2025/2026 season. Applications are Now Open and will close on Wednesday 4th of June at 5pm.
About the Program
The Echuca Junior Pirates Representative Program is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and development, both on and off the court. We aim to provide young athletes and coaches with a pathway that promotes growth, accountability, and professionalism in alignment with Basketball Victoria’s Code of Conduct.

Coaching Roles Available
We are seeking expressions of interest for the following voluntary positions:

Head Coaches (Divisions 1–4)
-
Assistant Coaches (All divisions)
All coaches will be supported and mentored under the guidance of our Director of Coaching, in collaboration with the EMBA Committee. Coaches will play a key role in shaping athlete development and contributing to the long-term success of the program.
Key Responsibilities
-
Committment for the entirety of the Echuca Pirates Season, commencing July 2025 and concluding between February and April 2026 (depending on team)

Deliver training and coaching aligned with EMBA’s coaching philosophy and style of play

Develop players’ technical, tactical, and personal skills
-
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture
-
Attend all scheduled training sessions (up to two per week) and representative games/tournaments
-
Collaborate with the Director of Coaching and other coaching staff
-
Provide leadership and mentorship for junior athletes
-
Uphold and model the EMBA Code of Conduct at all times
Requirements & Qualifications
Mandatory:
-
Commitment to attend regular training sessions and competitions
-
Adherence to the Echuca Pirates coaching structure, style of play and vision
-
Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
-
Agreement to sign the EMBA Coach’s Code of Conduct

Participation in a formal interview process as part of the selection criteria
Coaching Accreditation:
-
Division 1 Head Coach: Minimum Club Coach accreditation
-
Division 2–4 Head Coach: Minimum Community Coach accreditation
-
Assistant Coaches (all divisions): Recommend Community Coach accreditation
Note: Coaches not currently accredited may still apply, however must be willing to complete the required accreditation early in the season.
Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by an EMBA-appointed coaching panel, and candidates will be contacted for interviews commencing the week of Tuesday, 10 June 2025 continuing over a fortnight period.
